East Arkansas Community College Fine Arts Center will present the Jeff Bowling Quartet on Saturday, April 12th at 7:00 p.m. in the EACC Fine Arts Center’s Black Box Theater.   

The Jeff Bowling Quartet specializes in modern hard-driving swing music and performs original compositions, model expressions and the avant-garde drawing from Ellington, Coltrane and Lennon/McCartney.  Formed in 1989 by saxophonist Jeff Bowling, the group has gone through many changes over the past decade performing as a duo, trio, quartet, quintet and more.  The Jeff Bowling Quartet boasts a wide range of influences and performance histories, variously appearing with Dizzy Gillespie, Herb Ellis, Pete Fountain, Terry Holmes, Louie Bellson, Pat Metheney, Steve Reid and Bamboo Forest, and Bobby Vann and the Rockets of Rhythm.

Forrest City Baseball & Softball Registration (Thru March 31)

The Forrest City Recreation Department is accepting applications for youth softball and baseball for ages 4-17. The deadline for registration is March 31. Fees for those living inside the city limits are $20 and outside $25. Registration is also underway for men, women & co-ed softball. Registration fee per adult team is $250. Monroe County Beaver Bounty (Thru March 31)

Upward Bound Math-Science Program - Lyon College (Deadline is April 4)

The Upward Bound Math-Science Program at Lyon College in Batesville is now accepting applications from 9th, 10th and llth grade high school students for the 2014 Summer Session, June 1-July 13.  Students must attend a high school that is currently served by the program, be a citizen, national or permanent resident of the United States, and be from a family where neither parent has a college degree OR meet established income guidelines. Wheatley Reunion Meeting - (03/21)

Vegetable Production Clinic - (03/21)

A Commercial Vegetable Production Clinic is scheduled for March 21, 2014 for producers in Lee, Monroe, Phillips and St. Francis Counties. The clinic will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude around 12 noon in Helena at the Fine Arts Center of the Phillips Community College of the University of Arkansas. Forrest City Church of God, on Hwy. 1 South, will hold a youth revival Sunday, March 23, through Wednesday, March 26. The Sunday services will begin at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and the Monday through Wednesday services begin at 7 p.m. Caleb Rodgers is the evangelist for the revival.

65th Church Anniversary - New Light Baptist (03/23)

Spring into Nutrition Youth Program (Marianna) - (03/24)

The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service is hosting a program titled “Spring into Nutrition” for youth ages 5-19. This is a hands-on program during spring break to teach youth how to prepare healthy snacks, arts and crafts and the importance of exercise. Spring Break at Village Creek State Park - (03/22-29)

Starting Saturday, March 22, and continuing through Spring Break Week the staff at Village Creek State park will offer a variety of programs, games, and hikes for kids and families. On Saturday, March 29, kids have the chance to join the park interpreter from 1-3 p.m. for Kids Campfire Cooking. This workshop is specifically designed to help kids 6 and older learn about campfire safety and how they can make their own tasty treats over the fire.  There is a $3 fee per child to cover the cost of food. All children must be accompanied by an adult.  Reservations are required for groups, so that we will have enough supplies.  Families are welcome to attend without reservations. Crawfishin' in the Park (Caldwell) - (04/05)

The Caldwell Fire Dept. will have Crawfishin’ in the Park at Caldwell park on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 3-7 p.m. as a fundraiser for the Caldwell Fire Department. Phanatical Phunphest - (04/15-20)

The Phanatical Phunphest carnival & crawfish boil is scheduled for the week of Easter, April 15-20 2014, and will be held in Forrest City, Arkansas. New this year is the King Crawfish and Seafood Phestival which will feature a Crawfish Boil and Hot Wing Cooking Competition scheduled for Saturday, April 19. There will also be a Youth and Young Adult Talent Showcase for youth ages 8-18. Other events include a Karaoke Night on Thursday, Live Bands and Singers on Friday and Saturday and a Community Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday. Ranch Rodeo - (05/31)

The first annual Three Trees Cowboy Church Ranch Rodeo will be held on Saturday, May 31, at the Wiley T. Jones Arena in Forrest City. The rodeo will start at 10 a.m. Admission is $2 for adults and children 10 and under get in free. There will be vendors, bounce houses, a mechanical bull, concession, cowboy style chuck wagon food, cowboy mounted shooting & more. CPR Classes (Forrest City)

CPR Classes Forrest City Medical Center offers community CPR classes on the second Tuesday of every month from 8 a.m. to noon. The class is held in the hospital’s in-service classroom. Sistas Support Group

Prayer Services - Fresh Annointing Ministries

Fresh Anointing Ministries Church will hold prayer services every third Sunday of the month at 7 p.m., each Tuesday and Thursday from 12-1 p.m. and the last Friday of each month at 7 p.m.

Tabitha’s Closet at Oak Hill Church of God is open on the first Saturday of every month form 10 a.m. to noon. Free clothing is available in all sizes for men, women, and children.
