Palestine Fall Sport Registration

Now Until 8/012/16

Palestine Fall Sports Registration will be held at Palestine City Hall each weekday through Friday, August 12, from 8:00-4:00. Registration hours will be extended four hours--from 8:00 to 8:00--on July 29 and August 12 (both Fridays). For Pee Wee Cheerleading for 1st-6th graders, the fee is $35. For Softball, ages 10-16, the fee is $35. Practice for Pee Wee Football for 1st-6th graders starts the first week of August, and that fee is $60. For Soccer for ages 3-16, the fee is $35. Youth Empowerment Conference

There will be a Youth Empowerment Conference at Forrest City Civic Center on Friday, July 22, at 6 p.m. Speakers will be Pastor Chanson Newborn, Pastor BJ Lane Willis, Reverend Marquis Cooper, Tremeka McDaniel-Scott, Sharren Henderson and Teisha Lee.

NECA Horse Show

Fairy Garden Workshop

Adventure Day Camp

Village Creek State Park will host an Adventure Day Camp for children ages 10-12 on July 25-27, from 9:00-4:00 daily. Registration is required with a $75 fee. Registration must be done by the Friday before camp. For more information call 870-238-9406.

Driver's License Class

Each Thursday

Classes for a Driver's License are held each Thursday at the Lee Co. Courthouse. The written exam is given at 1:00 p.m., while the driving portion is at 9 a.m.

A Retired Teachers meeting for Lee County will be held on Wednesday, August 3, at noon, in the board room at Whitten Elementary School. Monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month.

Lee County Summer School

The Lee County School District is hosting Summer School until Friday, August 5. Classes will be held 7:30-5:00, Monday-Thursday. The district is closed on Fridays.

Chance for a Change will be participating in a Summer Feeding Program. Their three locations are Millbrook's Community Center (breakfast at 9:00 a.m. and lunch at 11:30 a.m.) and JB Sports and Manor House (breakfast at 9:30 a.m. and lunch at noon in both locations).

Sistas Support Group

Bamboo Wind Chimes

The Mississippi River State Park will host two Non-Native Bamboo Wind Chime classes: one class will be held on Friday, August 12, at 3:30 p.m., and the second is Saturday, September 3, at 3 p.m. Each class is about 45 minutes long. Three Trees Cowboy Church will hold a fundraiser for third grader Jilin Smith, who recently lost both parents.  The fundraiser will be held at the church in Wynne on Saturday, August 27, from 4:00-8:00 p.m.  BBQ plates will be available for $10, dine in or carry out. The Livestock Association of Eastern Arkansas will host the First Annual Barbeque Cook-Off on Saturday, September 3, from 10:00-3:00, in downtown Forrest City at 208 North Grant Street.
