Missoula Children's Theatre

Planning is underway for EACC’s 5th annual Children’s Theater Camp presented by Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theater. Dates for the camp will be July 21st – 26th, 2014. The camp is sponsored by EACC’s Department of Continuing Education.

Under the direction of two MCT Actor/Directors, the camp will begin with group auditions for approximately 50 roles that are available for area children entering grades 1st – 12th.  Once casting is complete, the children become involved with comedy, acting, singing, dancing, as well as staging and scenery design and development. The camp program culminates in a dress rehearsal and a public performance on the “big” stage of the EACC Fine Arts Center. Monday - Friday rehearsals are required plus the final performance on Saturday. No advance preparation is necessary. Every child that auditions will be cast in a role.

Missoula Children's Theatre has been touring extensively for over 40 years from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,200 communities this year.  The tour team will arrive with everything it takes to put on a play...except the cast. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales . . . a twist on the classic stories that you know and love.      Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project.  MCT's mission is the development of life skills in children through participation in the performing arts.

The camp will run Monday – Friday, July 21st – 25th.  On Saturday, July 26th, the cast members will present their public performance of Treasure Island on the main stage in the EACC Fine Arts Center at 5:00 pm.   For more information or to register for Missoula Children’s Theater Camp, call 870-633-4480, ext. 333.
