DCC Celebrates Louis Jordan


Delta Cultural Center is having a Saturday morning Delta Drop-In lecture on July 4.  The event will also serve as a kick-off for the DCC Book Club.  The first selection will be a new biography on a popular entertainer and recording artist of the Swing Era.  "King of the Juke Boxes:  The Continuing Impact of Louis Jordan" will be presented by DCC Assistant Director Thomas Jacques beginning at 11 a.m. at the DCC Visitors Center at 141 Cherry Street.

July 4 Celebration in Wynne

7/3 & 4/15

Wynne Music Festival presents a July 4th Celebration at the Wynne Sports Complex.  Activities kick off Friday night with a 2-hour concert from Strange Love, 6:30 to 8:30.  Then on Saturday, Lauren Richmond will sing the National Anthem at 1:15, leading up to an all-day event that include music, pony rides, face painting, food, and more.  Fireworks begin at 8:45.

July 4 Celebration in FC


FCA United presents its annual July 4th Celebration at the Forrest City Sports Complex.  Activities kick off Saturday night at 8:00 with music and a live DJ, family games, and prizes.  Fireworks begin at 9:00.

Quilt Raffle


The Scrap Happy Quilters of Brinkley have donated a quilt to the Central Delta Depot Museum, which will raffle it off as a fundraiser.  Stop by the museum to see the quilt, and get your tickets for just $1 each.  The drawing will be held July 4.

Movie at the Field Fundraiser


First National Bank of Wynne is sponsoring a fundraiser on Friday, July 10, at 8:30 p.m., to be held at the Wynne High School football field.  This fundraiser, called Movie at the Field, will feature the move When the Game Stands Tall.  Tickets are $5 each, and you choose who your money will benefit:  John-Hayden Smith Memorial Park, Bridge of Hope Children's Home, Forrest City Area Humane Society, or Harrisburg Community Garden Project.  You can get more information by listening to our Morning Show Friday, July 3, or by calling 870-238-6122.

Blood Drive Scheduled at EACC


East Arkansas Community College will be the site for the annual M.A.S.H. Bash Blood Drive by the Mid-South Regional Blood Center on Monday, July 13, from 10:00 to 2:00.  The Blood Drive will be held in the EACC Learning Resource Center Room B-129.  Donors will receive a complimentary M.A.S.H. Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza

7/17/15 - 7/19/15

The Arkansas Big Bass Bonanza, the largest amateur big bass tournament in the state, had to be rescheduled.  It will now be held the weekend of July 17 - 19.  Entry fee is $80 per person each day, and winners will be announced on Sunday, July 19.  To register or get more information, check out their website at

Golf Tournaments at Ridgecrest

Elvis Coming to Phillips County


Dave "Elvis" Ehlert will be performing at the historic Malco Theater on Saturday, August 15, starting at 7:30 p.m.  This Man of a Thousand Voices has been featured on Oprah, CNN, Fox, and CBS television; the Legends Stage in Las Vegas; and 19 seasons in Branson.  He'll be performing as Elvis, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Dean Martin, Roy Orbison, and BB King, among others.  Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door, and funds benefit the Phillips County Public Library.  870-338-3537 for more info.
