Kountry Kitchen Menu for Fair Week
8/31/15 through 9/5/15
The Kountry Kitchen will be serving up its good home cooking during the St. Francis County Fair, Monday through Saturday. For $8, you get the entree, two veggies, roll, dessert, and tea. The menu includes chicken spaghetti on Monday, chicken and dressing on Tuesday, meatloaf on Wednesday, chicken and dumplings on Thursday, fried chicken on Friday, and sandwiches on the grill for Saturday. A barbecue plate, including slaw, beans, and fries, will also be available each day. Call 633-8291 to place your take-out order.
Ridgewood Baptist is again offering Centershot Ministries, an eight-week Christian archery program. Registration for the program is Wednesday, Sept. 2, and it's for any school-age person, K through 12. (Kids in the second grade and younger need a parent or guardian with them.) Practices will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, depending on the age group. Register at the church at 4002 Highway 1 North--it's $35 for each archer. For more information, call 633-1121.
Registration for the AWANA program at First Baptist Church in FC will be held Wednesday, September 2, in the church gym. AWANA is for any kids from two years old through sixth grade.

Historical Society Meeting
The St. Francis County Historical Society will meet Thursday, Sept. 3, at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Francis County Museum on Front Street. The program will feature Melissa Zabecki Harvey, park interpreter at Parkin State Archeological State Park. She will talk about the foods available "back in the day" to native Indians at Parkin, and also about her experiences growing and feeding these foods to park visitors. The meetings of the St. Francis County Historical Society are open to all persons interested in local and state history, free of charge. For more, call 633-4778.
EACC Extends Registration
Late registration continues through Friday, Sept. 4, for the Fall 2015 semester's online classes at EACC. Late registration has also been extended for a variety of courses held on the main campus and the Wynne site. To Kill a Mockingbird Events
The Cross County Library will be hosting a series of events based on the book To Kill a Mockingbird. A movie screening will be held on September 3rd, then a book discussion on the 10th of September and a discussion of Go Set a Watchman on September 17th. Voting Underway for Barkansas Photo Contest
Voting on the Barkansas Photo Contest is still underway. The amateur grand prize winner will receive an all-inclusive, pet-friendly vacation package including a 3-day, 3-night stay in Hot Springs. The professional grand prize winner's all-inclusive trip will be in Eureka Springs. Voting (via facebook likes) for the two grand prize winners continues through Monday, September 7th. 42nd Annual Cotton Plant Day

42nd Annual All School Reunion
The 42nd annual All School Reunion will be at the Brinkley Convention Center on Saturday, September 5th, from 8 p.m.- 1 a.m. It is a semi-formal event and the theme is Come and Dance the Day and Night Away in New York City.

Annual AVESI BBQ Contest

The Second Annual All Veterans Empowerment Services, Inc., Barbecue Contest will be held on September 11th & 12th. Colt Pioneer Days

The 24th Annual Colt Pioneer Days is scheduled for Friday, September 11th, from 5-8 p.m. and Saturday the 12th from 9-2 p.m., at the William Stone House in Colt. Activities include: gospel singing, historical exhibits, informational & handcraft booths, a flag ceremony by Troop 18 of the Boy Scouts from Wynne, Children's Corral, and Rhea's Pony Rides. The Colt CDC will host the food booth, serving their famous beans and cornbread, nachos, hamburgers, hot dogs, chili pies and assorted soft drinks. Don't forget your lawnchairs!

The Down Syndrome Association has once again given permission to Ruby Colvin and her daughter to host a fundraiser. Wynne Library is offering an E-mail Basics class on Monday, Sept. 21, starting at 9:30 a.m. Also, Benny McDowell from Arkansas Workforce is at the Wynne Library every Tuesday from 1:00 to 4:30 offering job assistance services. No appointments are necessary, and there is a designated computer for filling out job applications and performing job searches. Local Artist Exhibit
Works by a local artist, Ron Taegtmeyer of Wynne, are on exhibit now at the Fine Arts Center Gallery at EACC. The exhibit of "Southern Country Scenes" will hang through Friday, Sept. 25.
21st Annual Autumn on the Square
The Annual Festival is set for Saturday, September 26th, with events starting at 10 a.m. and going until 4 p.m. There will also be a live band and street dance from 8-11:30 that night.
Headliners at EACC
The 2015 - 2016 Performance Season at EACC's Fine Arts Center includes performances by The Four Tops in October; A Christmas Carol in December; the Million Dollar Quartet in February; the Oak Ridge Boys in March; and Ragtime, the Musical in April. Check out the EACC website for more info.
Cinderella at the Orpheum
Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella will be at the Orpheum in Memphis from October 13th-18th, with several show times. The shows Tuesday-Thursday start at 7:30, Friday starts at 8 p.m., and there will be two showings on both Saturday and Sunday. The times for Saturday are 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and times on Sunday are 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tickets will go on sale Friday, July 31st and range from $25-$125.
