Benefit Fund (Jackson Family)


5-year-old Anna Claire Jackson, daughter of Nick and Detra Jackson, tragically passed away on Tuesday, September 13, in a fatal car accident and a benefit fund has been set up for her family at First National Bank of Eastern Arkansas. "You've Been Gnomed" (Fundraiser)

The DBS High School Sorority Girls are sponsoring a fundraising event so that you can gnome your neighbor or good friend. There are two sets of gnomes, one is in Marianna and the other is in Forrest City. Through the month of September a set of gnomes will be placed in a yard and the home/business owner will need to donate to Prevent Child Abuse America to move the gnomes. JA Skeet Shoot


Forrest City Junior Auxiliary will have its annual skeet shoot on Saturday, October 1, from 2:00-11:00 p.m., at Central Arkansas Turbines, Inc., 1280 Highway 980, in Forrest City, AR. Registration is from 2:00-3:00 p.m. with the actual shoot from 3:00-6:00 p.m.  Registration fee is $60 per shooter and $30 for a non-shooter. 4th Annual Forrest City Downtown Music & Arts Festival

4-H Fishing Derby

Benefit Singing (Wayne Allan)

Great Arkansas Clean-Up


Mississippi River State Park and St. Francis National Forest will join up and be apart of the Great Arkansas Clean-Up, that is promoted by the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Commission. They will be doing shoreline clean-ups of Storm Creek Lake and Horner Neck Lake, as well as cleaning up along the confluence and confluence area at the Mississippi and St. Francis Rivers on Saturday, October 1, starting at 9:00 a.m. For more information call 870-295-4040.

Free Mulch


Forrest City Landfill will be giving away free mulch on Saturday, October 1, from 8:00-noon. Free mulch is given away the first Saturday of every month.

Brinkley Fall Fest


Brinkley Fall Fest has been scheduled for Saturday, October 1, at the Brinkley Convention Center. Mississippi River State Park is hosting their Fall Kayaking Tours with several different sessions. The schedule is as follows:
--They will be at Storm Creek Lake on Saturday, October 1, at 2:00 p.m.
--There will be a full moon tour at Bear Creek Lake on Friday, October 14, at 6:30 p.m.
--There will be a regular tour at Hornor Neck Lake on Saturday, October 29 at 2:30 p.m.

Fundraising Dog Show


The Arkansas Bully Fest will be held on Saturday, October 1, with gates opening at 7:00 a.m., at the ASU Equine Center in Jonesboro, AR. This is a dog show for bulldog breeds specifically. Entry is $20 per person, $5 per dogs, and kids 12 and under get in for free. No aggressive dogs or dogs in heat are allowed. During the show a raffle-style fundraiser will be taking place, tickets range from $5-$20. Proceeds from the raffle will go to Forrest City Humane Society. Gallery Exhibit--Delta: Rediscovered

The EACC Gallery in Forrest City presents Delta: Rediscovered, a touring exhibit that features rare photographs of early Arkansas life along the White River.  The exhibit is open Monday through Thursday from 10:00 to 4:00 and on Fridays from 10:00 to noon.  Special group tours may also be scheduled.  There is no charge for admission.  Pieces are the work of Master photographer Dayton Bowers, whose work focused on the lives, culture, and heritage of Arkansans from the early 1880s to the mid-1920s.  Several of his photos are also featured in the book Daughter of the White River (History Press, 2013).  For more information, call the college at 633-4480 or visit their website.

Delta Cultural Center's Front Porch


Delta Cultural Center will host their Front Porch Event, while they are gearing up for their annual King Biscuit Blue's Festival, on October 6-8, at the Miller Annex, on 223 Cherry Street. The 11th Annual Peebles Farm Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze will be open from Friday, September 23, until Monday, October 31. Mississippi River State Park will host a homeschool education class one Thursday out of each month. These classes are set up to cover the nature and history of Crowley's Ridge, the St. Francis River and the Mississippi River. Marvell Main Street Festival


The Marvell Main Street Festival will be held in conjunction with the Levon Helm Downtown Jubilee this year on Saturday, October 22. There will be a 5k Run/Walk and Kids Fun Run starting at 8:00 a.m. that morning, and the festival itself starts at 10:00 a.m., with live music, arts and crafts, silent auctions, kid games and much more.
